Time : 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M.

Madame C.J. Walker became America's first black millionaire businesswoman after inventing new hair care products and a cosmetics line for black women.  In 1905, Walker patented a straightening comb-dubbed the "Walker Method"-which transformed many women's hair into a shining, smooth mane.  The popularity of her products grew so rapidly that she employed 3,000 workers in a factory which occupied an entire Denver city block.  Before the advent of the "Avon Lady" and Mary Kay representatives, Walker also trained young women to sell her products door to door.

"Madame C.J. Walker, Inventor and Entrepreneur" is funded by Nevada Humanities, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
